this period of time working has set me thinking more than i wanted to.. study law, be a lawyer/policewoman.. that's what i've been dreaming of since young. so naive.. i wanted to study law so that my chances of getting into police might be increased. but after that close brush with the law, it struck me that in a country like singapore, being a police officer is pretty pointless. there aren't enough crimes to go around (which shouldnt be a bad thing), and the rotation of departments pretty much sucks. i wanted to be in the fieldwork, not stuck in some fancy cantonment complex or police post pushing paper.
and the past month spent in the firm made me realise that i was too naive in thinking that life is as depicted in fiction novels. in real life, you might have a lawyer, but to the lawyer, you're just a case number. i really doubt the efforts put in by the lawyers to fight a case. are they alike doctors and nurses who face death everyday to the point of being immune to it? if that is so, i really wish that wont happen to me..
maybe you can say i'm too childishly naive to believe that justice prevails above all. countless examples are around us to show exactly that..
suddenly, the bubble i blew for myself burst silently. after holding on to this dream for the past decade, as the reflected light imprinted itself in my mind to serve as a memory, i can only walk away with nothing but empty air..
