back when i was feeling down and out, everyone else seemed to be having fun, enjoying whatever that's been thrown in their lives, be it studies/friendships/love yadayada. you get the picture.
and yet now when there's a semblance of happiness filtering in through from some sources not totally unexpected, it seems the walls have gone up around these people. i guess when you're feeling chippier, you begin to see that others have as many problems as you probably had in the first place. in that sense, it's hard to stay happy when there's no one to be happy with.
or maybe there's this huge 'happiness' cycle, not unlike an energy cycle. the total amount of 'happiness' does not change in the whole system, being conserved as it gets passed from person to person. when you're feeling happy, someone else in the world is feeling sad because of you. when you're upset, it means someone else is basking in his own happiness, probably due to your own lack of happiness.
if so, happiness is definitely overrated.
